The homeowners wanted to remodel the narrow confines of an existing kitchen and breakfast room to include a breakfast bar. Spatially, this was a major challenge because the room was not wide enough to accommodate a breakfast bar and circulation at the same time. We met the client’s requirement by shifting and alternating the location and depths of the cabinets in order to “bend space” and accommodate both seating and circulation. One other spatial trick we used was installing ceiling soffits to create the allusion of a higher ceiling. Quite a transformation.
